Holding the fort…

So Christopher is the only Garagehammer rep at Gencon. This year’s family trip to Disney World took the boy and I out of the realm of financial feasibility. Anyway, I’m here holding the fort. Keeping an eye on the forum, getting things ready for my army in the UGG 1600pt tourney, and hopefully figuring out how the hell to set up the “Garage Sale” (the soon to be Garagehammer merchandise store).

So I’m still here and once Christopher gets back we will be recording Episode 6.  Obviously, we’ll be talking about Gencon (or more accurately, Christopher will be telling me about Gencon during the show and I’ll be seething with jealousy).  So expect Episode 6 sometime around the 12th give or take a few days.  Besides Gencon, we’ll be discussing army builds as well as beginning Garage 101, our new segment where we lay out the game (or our take on it) step by step. This means that the first installment will be setting up your board. And after discussing this with Christopher last night, we realized that there’s a lot more to talk about than we first thought. — That conversation got a little heated too. We are SO not seeing eye-to-eye on this. We actually cut the chat on that one to save it for the show later. –

Also, Harrison will be there with his next installment of “The Sigmar Youth.”  The first topic will be his announcement of the new name for the segment. He’s not even telling us what he’s choosing. He wants it to be a surprise and not to allow anyone to spoil it. As he said, it’s not just the name of the segment, it’s him, so he’s going to choose it all on his own.

So check back soon, new episode in about a week and it promises to be jam packed.

Oh, and I think I picked another song for you all. Only one this time. Another short one. Hey, you may not like the songs, but you can’t say it’s not interesting!

Until next week’s episode, keep battling.

Hey! We learned something!

Or more accurately, I learned something.  Our recording equipment may only be a single Zoom handy recorder, but the mics on that baby can pick up a heck of a lot! I just figured that, since I keep having to make adjustments during editing just so everyone can be heard, that the minor, more quiet sounds wouldn’t stand a chance at being heard.

I was way wrong. As we learned after releasing Episode 4, even the faint sounds of my clock are getting picked up. Also, we didn’t realize how much noise I was making while munching the caramel/cheese combo popcorn that was sitting out when we started recording. Of course, within a few days of the episode coming out, several people let me know that the clock and the food were more than a slight distraction. So I just wanted to get on here tonight and let you all know that we will be recording food free and somewhere that the cuckoo clock won’t be ticking away in the background driving people batty.

Thanks to everyone who let us know that you could hear that stuff, because I didn’t hear it when I was editing the show and probably would have kept on making these mistakes and making Christopher and myself look like amateurs. We want to be an entertaining podcast, but we also want to be (as much as possible) a professional podcast as well. So thanks for all the constructive criticism. We do appreciate it and we do take it to heart as we try to keep making the show better and better.

And to 13kram3tan, thanks for sticking with us despite the chewing! We appreciate it.

See you all with a new episode in about a week!

8th ed. Warhammer on sale tomorrow! FAQ’s just released!

Hey folks!

So I’m going to be at my local friendly gaming establishment tonight waiting for the 8th ed. midnight release. Right now I’m going over the FAQ’s that were released by GW this morning.

Lots of cool stuff and we’ll be talking about it on our next show, which will be soon. (Too much to discus and we don’t feel like waiting for two weeks.)

Nothing seems too drastic at the moment. No reassigning points or anything like that. They either tweaked something (Lizardmen are still “aquatic,” but that means they have River Strider, Marsh Strider, and Lake Strider) or they just told you to ignore it (like the page that talks about building your army and size and units…ignore it all and use what’s in the main book. Or like the Dwarf rune that gives you double your Unit Strength… ignore the rune. There is no unit strength.)

Anyway, I’m super excited. Christopher and I will be gaming all weekend and I hope you are doing the same. Hopefully we will record something Monday, maybe.

Until then, LISTEN TO THE PODHAMMER MARATHON. Starting at 8AM (+10 GMT) on Saturday.

For you few who can’t seem to do the math, That’s 10pm Friday in most of England (all? how many times zones does England cover?)

In America, it’s 6pm Eastern, 5pm Central, 4pm Mountain, and 3pm on the West Coast.

I’ll be listening while playing and I hope you will too. Heck, I’m even going to call in at some point so maybe you’ll hear me talking to Jeff, Warhammer Jesus.

Have Fun!!!

New Warhammer out tomorrow – FAQs out NOW!

Hey folks,

I’m reading the FAQs right now and they are…surprisingly clear. And they also seem rather fair. There’s also another article in the Warhammer/Articles/Gaming list that briefly covers tactics for every army.  That’s a great bit of information for anyone who is new to the game or thinking of starting a new army. They just posted this today, so hopefully the information in it is current and not just a rehash of the old army tactica. (I don’t even know why I said that. You know GW wouldn’t do something like that…)

The tactica can be found here: Warhammer Armies: Tactica

And the FAQ can be found here: Warhammer Frequently Asked Questions

I will be at my local friendly gaming establishment for tonight’s midnight release.  I hope many of you have plans for the release weekend as well.

So I know I’m going to be playing Warhammer all weekend with Christopher and some friends, but don’t worry, a new episode will be coming soon (there’s just too much to wait for two more weeks).

I don’t know how many episodes we are going to be putting out over the next few weeks, but I’m certain there’s at least one more bonus episode in us for this month.

MEANWHILE – Since you don’t have a show of ours to listen to, I suggest you tune into

THE PODHAMMER 8TH EDITION RELEASE WEEKEND MARATHON

It’s free and you can tune in while you are gaming this weekend and listen to the thoughts of some of the best players in Australia as well as their guests form around the world. Hey, Alessio is even going to be having a Q&A with Jeff. Seriously, tune in. Maybe even donate a bit to the marathon to keep it going and get the Podhammer crew here for Adepticon!

Anyway, I’ve got to get back to prepping for tonight’s festivities. Have a fun weekend! We’ll let you know when the next show is going to be (I’m hoping for next week!)

Errata list around the corner!

Tomorrow, the world will see the anticipated (and assumedly quite epic) 8th edition errata list, the “8th Edition Ravening Hordes” as I’ve come to think of it.  With this update, players will finally have an unobfuscated picture of the complete capabilities of each army.  David and I will be hitting the studio early tomorrow with a big pot of coffee, in anticipation of a very cool episode!  Stay tuned!
