Episode 127 – Thank You, Yu

Sponsored by Unique Gifts & GamesMantic GamesMierce Miniatures, and Battlefoam

The Garagehammer Toolbox is brought to you by Chaos Orc’s Superstore

So this is Chris’s last official episode. First we play a game of AoS live on the air. It’s cool, but we were having fun and, where we normally stop in between each turn to describe the board, we forgot to do it this time…so it may not be as easy to follow as the others. I apologize for that. Totally my fault.

After playing the game, we talk about our impressions and what we thing about this new game’s potential.

We then spend the rest of the episode just kind of chatting about the game, our hobby, and other stuff. Mixed in to that are several emails from people saying goodbye to Chris, a couple of phone calls from friends of the show, some gift giving and heartfely goodbyes.

Overall I think this was a good episode. I hope you enjoy it. I will totally miss having Chris on every episode. (Where am I going to find a THIRD Chris?)

Anyway, enjoy!

Episode 126B – GenCon and Mantic Games

Sponsored by Mantic Games

So David is back from GenCon and he’s been talking to Ronnie Renton about all things Mantic. After that, we’ve got Jonhhy P (whutupshun!) on to talk more in depth about the upcoming Dungeon Saga, Kings of War 2nd Edition, and the soon to start Kickstarter for Warpath! This is the last extra bonus episode for a while.  I know I said no more bonus episodes, but I just had so much stuff to put out and I didn’t want to spread it out over a bunch of episodes what with all the AoS stuff coming out.

Enjoy!

Episode 126A – GenCon, Battlefoam and WWX

Sponsored by Battlefoam

So David is back from GenCon and he’s talking to Romeo about all things Battlefoam and Wild West Exodus. Now, originally this was going to be part of our traditional “GenCon Interview Episode” but we got a lot of discussions with several people and that episode would have been way too long. Therefore, since Battlefoam has been a sponsor form quite some time, and since the initial 15-20 minutes became almost an hour, we broke up the episode into several parts. This obviously is just Battlefoam and Wild West Exodus.

Sorry that there isn’t the usual introduction, but since this wasn’t originally planned as a stand alone piece, the show just starts as if we are coming back from the commercial. (Plus, the Master Engineer is only contractually obligated to introduce “regular” episodes of Gargehammer and his agent insists that, as an extra episode this falls outside of “regular,” so he’s out for this one.)

Also, stay tuned until the end and find out about the contest so you too could win some wonderful prizes!

Hope you enjoy this, and stay tuned as we will have ANOTHER bonus episode both with Ronnie Renton at GenCon talking all things Mantic, and also with Johnny P (whutupshun!) talking in greater detail about the upcoming Dungeon Saga as well as Kings of War 2nd Edition and the upcoming Warpath Kickstarter! Lots of stuff so stay tuned!

Enjoy!

Transmission A2 – Dan Abnett Interview

Another show in a month? NO WAY!

The best part? Holy crap we got DAN ABNETT, author of comics, screenplays, dozens of books and five (so far) of the Horus Heresy novels! That’s right, the Dan Abnett is sitting down to talk with us!  Seriously, this is (in my humble opinion) a great episode. I mean, we get all sorts of cool stories and information from him. Yes, I did fanboy out in the very beginning of the episode, but shut up!

Not only that, but he totally agreed to come on again after we discuss “Prospero Burns!”

Enjoy!

The talk with Jim Wappel covers painting and models and his love of Wild West Exodus. The discussion with Bryan Steele covers his time as a Guest of Honor at Gencon.

Next episode we will have the interview with Battlefoam, and before that we will have a mini-episode devoted just to Mantic and the interview with Ronnie Renton.

The Garagehammer Toolbox is brought to you by Chaos Orc’s Superstore

So we still aren’t doing a real AoS episode because we aren’t ready. I know a lot of casts have covered it, but we aren’t racing to do it and jump the gun. I was on vacation and Chris is waiting for me to play. So we are going to play before next episode (from the box) and then give you our thoughts on Age of Sigmar there.

Today we are talking about the bug ugly elephant in the room. What other games are people playing? I know it’s a touchy subject with the seeming exodus from AoS, but if we are honest, a big portion of our community has spent the last six months finding other games while we were sitting around and waiting to see what happened after the End Times. So after announcing a little more about the future of the show, we talk about the BIG alternate game (at least in our area) that we’ve been playing, Infinity. We don’t go into too much about the hard core mechanics, but we talk a little bit of that followed by what might be attractive/unattractive to other Warhammer players.

Don’t take this as play this instead of AoS. Take it as, “This is what we’ve been playing lately while we try to figure out what’s up with AoS.” We’ve always played several games, and while everything is in flux there’s no point in us suddenly trying to hide that we are playing some other games. We figured that, since we are ALL starting a brand new game with AoS (meaning AoS is totally new, not that everyone is playing…) why not talk about our other new games too?

Enjoy!

Transmission 0802 – Staring Into The Abyss

So here we are after way too long. This isn’t a long episode but we DO announce the Space Hulk contest winner. We visit the Abyss one last time. In a few weeks (gotta wait until I’m back from GenCon!) we will be posting an author interview. David is an unapologetic fanboy at the start, but shut up. You weren’t there. Anyway, we have some fun and get back behind the mic and Mechanicum is on its way!

Episode 124 – Welcome to the New Age

Sponsored by Unique Gifts & GamesMantic GamesMierce Miniatures, and Battlefoam

The Garagehammer Toolbox is brought to you by Chaos Orc’s Superstore

So Chris and David talk about the Age of Sigmar for a bit in news and rumors and then they trace the history of eighth edition and share their memories about the shifts and changes in the game over five years and a day. After that, it’s back to the Age of Sigmar. We both give our first impressions and often remind everyone that at the time of recording we hadn’t gotten a game in. We try to be fair and honest. It does mean that we try not to take a stand too strongly either way when it comes to the new Warhammer game. We figure we will be talking about this for a while, so no need to jump to any conclusions.

Anyway, we hope you enjoy our musings on 8th as well as our questions about this new Age for Warhammer.

Enjoy!
